I switched ...Thanks for your comment on my blog :)<br /><br />I switched to Arch Linux in the meantime. There they had (and still have) patched packets in the user repositories which could be easily installed. However, I believe the whole thing with the bytecode stuff which affected font hinting/subpixel rendering was due to a patent, which has expired in May (according to Wikipedia and other sources).
